Libraries supporting data rescue

Librarians are great at quickly pulling together resources to support their patrons, and in the face of recent data loss, this need has become more urgent. Our patrons rely on access to public government data. While some of that data might be available for a fee through vendor products, not every library can afford those subscriptions.

The library world didn't disappoint over the past few weeks. Responding quickly, some librarians added suggestions to our old Google doc. Others borrowed from our list (with our full permission and enthusiasm) and provided additional sources important for their communities. We started gathering these as a way to highlight their efforts. We also encourage you to contact your local librarian. In these times, a personal connection with your library is critical.

If you have created a guide, please let us know. If you do not see your library here, do not fret. Some libraries may not have the staffing or resources or feel unable to create them for whatever reason. That does not mean that you can't reach out to get help if you need it or if you are looking for a data source! Many of us at DRP are librarians. This is why we spend our free time working on data rescue. We know well how important these resources are for our patrons and our communities.
